rss

This installation of Drupal now has the functionality of "leeching" content from an external RSS feed of a blog or news site. This means that as new entries are posted to the external site, copies of the entries are saved as Drupal nodes of type "rss news".

Building

There's been quite a bit of email to and fro amongst the project team while this site is being developed. There are two major issues at the moment.

RSS Introduction

RSS (Really Simple Sydication) is a technology that allows the inner content of a website to be retrieved by an outside application. Most blogs, news sites and many other web services provide an ‘RSS Feed’. When new content is published the RSS Feed relocates this content to a ‘Feed Reader’ or ‘Aggregator’.

The ability for content to be viewed independently of its producer allows the content to be accessed, read and used in new ways.
